Fidalgo Island is barely an island at all, separated from the mainland only by the narrow Swinomish Channel. It faces
Whidbey Island from the north side of
Deception Pass. The principal community is
Anacortes. The Swinomish Indian Reservation occupies much of the eastern portion of the island.
