Fort Canby State Park |
Construction of the fort began in 1863 and was named for General Edward Canby, who was killed in the Modoc Indian War. The 1882-acre park features 27 miles of ocean beach, two lighthouses, an interpretive center, and hiking trails.
The park is located just outside Ilwaco at the very southwesternmost corner of Washington. Camping facilities include 190 standard campsites, 60 RV sites and 4 primitive campsites.
The Washington State Parks system includes more than 125 developed parks and includes about a quarter million acres. To make a reservation at more then 60 Washington state parks, contact Washington State Parks from May 15 to Sept. 15.
