The site was homesteaded by Albert Insel in 1898. He started the farmhouse in 1908 and finished it in 1911. The family did not have electric power or a bathroom until 1963. Unfortunately, the farmhouse burned to the ground in 1992, but the shop and horse barn remain.The park is about two miles south of Shelton of Highway 101
