Founded in 1973, the Northwest Chamber Orchestra has been recognized as one of the outstanding orchestras in the United States and Europe. It has performed in the northwestern United States, including Alaska, and its radio broadcasts reach a wide audience. The orchestra has presented several world premieres, including its commission of Symphony No. 38 by Alan Hovhaness.
