The Olympic Mountains receive tremendous rainfall, carried onto its slopes by moisture-laden air from the Pacific Ocean. Despite only moderate elevations, with Mount Olympus at 7965 feet being its heights peak, it has some 60 glaciers.

The mountains are at the center of the Olympic National Park.
