|
The refuge is divided into five units that total over 5,100 acres of marshes, grasslands, and woodlands. The refuge was established in response to a need to establish a winter habitat for the dusky Canada goose. Other refuge residents include sandhill cranes, mallards, blue herons, and black-tailed deer. The two-mile Oaks-to-Wetlands Wildlife Foot Trail winds through open pasture, oak groves and ponds. There is an auto tour route available in the spring and summer months, which has an information kiosk and observation blind for viewing wildlife.
