In September of 1974 Pine Lake opened its doors to students as a Junior High. From the beginning, it has been a strong school in academics, the arts, music, drama, sports, student participation, and activities. They endorse community service, and it is required for their leadership groups and honor society members. Regular annual events include: curriculum night, open house, hoe down, orange and blue day, think first assembly, lip sync, talent show, odyssey of the mind, eighth-grade party and promotion and a variety of new ones each school year.
