Located on a wooded ridge in the center of Bellingham, the arboretum is accessible by footpath from the Western Washington University Campus or by car from the Bill McDonald Parkway. The arboretum is a 180-acre natural habitat with an observation tower providing panoramic views of Bellingham Bay, the
San Juan Islands,
Mount Baker and the mountains of southern British Columbia. There are native plants and animals and several miles of trails.
Gardens are open to the public throughout Washington.
