Shelton, on an inlet of southwest Puget Sound, is known for Christmas trees and succulent oysters. In fact, Mason County is one of the nation's largest Christmas-tree producing areas - over 2 million trees are shipped worldwide annually.

Shelton is the county seat of Mason County, and the only incorporated city in the county. Highway 101 runs just west of the city.

The radio voice of Mason County is KMAS, broadcasting at 1030 on the AM dial. As the most powerful AM radio station between Portland and Seattle, KMAS provides news, weather, travel info and more.

There is also a Shelton, Connecticut.
