Shelton, on an inlet of southwest
Puget Sound, is known for Christmas trees and succulent oysters. In fact,
Mason County is one of the nation's largest Christmas-tree producing areas - over 2 million trees are shipped worldwide annually.
Shelton is the county seat of Mason County, and the only incorporated city in the county. Highway 101 runs just west of the city.
