Located on the Skykomish River in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Skykomish was once a railroad town. Now it is headquarters for outdoor activity in the surrounding mountains. Deception Falls thunders alongside Highway 2 east of town. Skykomish is actually in King County, but it is isolated in terms of transportation from the rest of the county. Highway 2 connect it with Snohomish County in the west and Chelan County across the mountains. Skykomish is part of the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA metro area.
