The West Hylebos is a 69-acre wetland area consisting of a wildlife refuge, ecological conservatory, and nature trail. It is the headwaters of Hylebos Creek and one of the main drainage areas for Federal Way. There are 62 different kinds of plants growing here, some on the list of rare plants. Swamp violets, Bog Orchids and Wild Azaleas are just a few. There are many species of birds that populate the park and several small ponds are located throughout the park.
There is a boardwalk which provides access to the area complete with viewing stations, bridges and signs.
