Pacific County surrounds Willapa Bay and includes the mouth of the Columbia River. The South Bend, the county seat, and Raymond are both on the mainland side of the bay along Highway 101. The Long Beach Peninsula includes the resort community of Long Beach and historic Oysterville, founded in the middle of the last century to meet the taste for oysters in prospering San Francisco. The fishing community of Ilwaco is at the mouth of the Columbia. beaches along its only oceanside stretch of road in Washington.
