Occupying the extreme northeast corner of Washington, Pend Oreille County borders both Idaho and Canada. The
Pend Oreille River enters from Idaho at
Newport, the county seat. The river's waters flow northward past
Usk,
Ione, and
Metaline Falls into Canada before joining the Columbia River and returning to the United States.
