Crandon is located in Forest County (of which it is the county seat) within the North Region, between Rhinelander and Laona along US Highway 8 near Metonga Lake and Mole Lake Indian Reservation. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,133, an increase of 175 since 1990.
