Oshkosh

Oshkosh is located in Winnebago County (of which it is the county seat) southwest of Green Bay between Appleton and Fond du Lac on the western edge of Lake Winnebago along US Highway 41 near Butte Des Morts Lake.

In 1836 settlers first established homes around lumber mills, the city is now known for its manufacturing firms, shopping centers, and award-winning educational systems.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 57,955, an increase of 2,949 since 1990.

Oshkosh is part of the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah, Wisconsin metro area.
