Cardston

Charles OraCard, a son-in-law of Brigham Young, led 10 Mormon families into Canada in 1887, trying to find freedom from American anti-polygamy laws. The immigrants founded the country's first Mormon settlement and named it after their leader, who also became the town's first mayor.
