The ruins of a closed coal mining operation are on view at Alpine Historical Park. Also featured are historical buildings, a history of the Glenn Hwy/Tok Cutoff, exhibits on Athabascan Indian history and gardens. The Alpine Coal Washery closed in 1922, but relics remain.
The nearby town of Sutton was established along the railroad for the coal mining industry. There were mines at Jonesville, Eska and other locations in the area. Seventeenmile Lake is nearby for fishing and camping.
The museum is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
