Eek lies on the south bank of the Eek River, just a short distance from the mouth of the Kuskokwim River in Bethel Census Area.
Eek is a traditional Yup'ik Eskimo village with a subsistence lifestyle. 80-90 percent of the diet in Eek consists of salmon, which are abundant in the waters in the area.
