Egegik lies on the Alaska Peninsula, on the Egegik River.
Egegik has a strong Aleut culture. During the commercial fishing season, the village population swells to thousands of people. There are six on-shore processors on the Egegik river, as well as approximately 30 floating processors nearby.
For year-round residents of Egegik, subsistence hunting and fishing activities are an important part of the lifestyle and diet.
Egegik is only accessible by air and water. Scheduled and charter services are available.
