King Mountain Lodge

Established in 1947, this is the oldest lodge on the Glenn Hwy/Tok Cutoff. There is a motel, cabins, bar and package store, as well as free camping and RV parking on the Matanuska River.

All cooking is from scratch and features buffalo burgers, musk ox burgers and sausage gravy. The plank floor bar, dubbed the "Chickaloon Performing Arts Center", dates back to coal mining days.

The King Mtn, Matanuska and Chickaloon River area is popular with Anchorage residents for year-round recreation.
