Nenana River

Search Visit Alaska

The Parks Hwy crosses the river several times and runs parallel to it between Cantwell and Nenana. The river forms the eastern boundary of the Denali National Park and Preserve. It joins the Tanana River at the town of Nenana.

The river originates in the Wrangell Mtns and includes many whitewater rapids before joining the shallower, slow-moving Tanana River, which is used in the summer to carry freight to the Yukon.
