Alaska Folk Festival Juneau AK April8-14 FREE! There is no admission charge to any concert, dance, workshop or other event. AFF encourages and supports non-professional musicians as well as professionals.
Southeast Alaska State Fair Haines AK July25-28 This annual fair is held at the fairgrounds in Haines in mid-August and grew out of a strawberry festival. It features agriculture, home arts, fine arts and crafts. The highlight is the Bald Eagle Music Festival. Pig racing for cookies is a featured attraction, along with a logging contest, art demonstrations, exhibits of flowers, livestock, baked goods, quilting, and woodworking. A horse show, parade and other events round out the attractions.
Alaska Bald Eagle Festival Haines AK November11-17 This festival celebrates the world's largest gathering of bald eagles in the Chilkat Valley near Haines at a time when the eagles are feeding on a late run of coho and chum salmon. The eagles congregate along the Chilkat River and can easily be viewed from many pullouts on the Haines Highway in the Bald Eagle Preserve. The festival includes the release of wild rehabilitated eagles, live bird presentations, art exhibits, naturalist-guided tours, photographic workshops, seminars on birding and natural history topics, exhibits, and keynote speakers.
