This church had as its pastor the Reverend Dr Martin Luther King Jr, 1954-60. It was in this church that the leaders of the desegregation movement met for the first time in 1955 and decided to institute a bus boycott as a form of peaceful protest. The church contains a detailed mural chronicling Dr King's nonviolent crusade against racial oppression. Guided tours depart Monday-Thursday at 10am and 2pm, Friday at 10am and Saturday 10am-2pm. Reservations should be made one week in advance.
