Jasper

Jasper is named after William Jasper, a Revolutionary War officer. The city is located in Walker County (North Region), 39 miles NW of Birmingham along Highway 69 near the William Bankhead National Forest.


The area also has the Smith Lake, and the Walker County Lake providing many fishing and boating opportunities for residents and visitors. Local shops are available for all water activity needs.
The Carl Elliott House Museum is also in the area providing some of the rich history the city has to offer. The local libraries also provide much information to the community.
The golfing in the area consists of the Arrowhead Golf Course, Musgrove Country Club, and the Twin Lakes Golf Course.
Some of the accommodations in the area are the Days Inn, Holiday Inn, Jameson Inn, Super 8, and Travel-Rite Inn.
