Waterloo is located in Lauderdale County (North Region), in the extreme Norht West corner of Alabama near the Tenneesee and Mississippi state lines along Highway 14 on the banks of the the Tennessee River near Pickwick Lake placing it as part of the Florence, Alabama metro area.
The city is full of history at the Edith Newman Culver Memorial Museum displaying much information on the history of the area and city.
