Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge

Search Visit Arkansas

This low lying area is dissected by a system of rivers, creeks, sloughs, buttonbush swamps, and lakes throughout a vast bottomland hardwood forest that gradually rises to an upland forest community. Occassional flooding of the 'bottoms' during winter and spring provide excellent wintering waterfowl habitat. The wetlands along with the pine and upland hardwood forest on higher ridges, support a diverse combination of native plants and animals.
