Jacksonport is located in Jackson County northeast of Little Rock, between Batesville and Newport along Hwy 69 and the banks of the White River.

In 1833, Thomas Todd Tunstall, the first steamboat pilot to venture up the White River, bought land and established the town of Jacksonport. As the area prospered and grew, it developed into a busy steamboat port.
