Walnut Ridge is located in Lawrence County west of Paragould, betweenJonesboro and Pocahontas. This community serves US Hwy's 67 & 412 as well as Hwy's 34 & 91 on the banks of the Cache River near the Missouri boarder.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,316, an increase of 197 since 1990.
