Carefree is part of the Phoenix-Mesa, Arizona metro area.

Carefree is home of the famous giant sundial. The sundail has been attracting people to Carefree since 1959. It is the third largest working sundial in the Western Hemisphere. Located in Sundial Circle, this ancient time telling instrument measures 90 feet in diameter.

Carefree was founded in the 1950's. The town is one of the earliest planned communities in Arizona.

Carefree offers a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options. So does the neighboring town of Cave Creek.
