Devil's Canyon is noted for its sharp ridges, rock strata and cathedral-like tower formations that illustrate the enormous geological pressures exerted on the region. The mineral wealth of the area is credited mainly to these forces. The Queen Creek Gorge, Bridge and Tunnel can be seen on a drive through the canyon.
Devil's Canyon offers several hiking opportunities from moderate (downhill) to strenuous (uphill). Devils Canyon lies within the San Gabriel Wilderness, a rugged area with streams, falls, gorges and forest, varying from the elfin chaparral to open pine and spruce groves. This is a Wilderness area to be preserved in its natural state.
A National Forest Adventure Pass is required for your vehicle while parked at the trailhead.
Spring and early summer are the best times to visit the area, as the streams sometimes become dry during summer and fall.
