Wellton is located in Yuma County just east of Yuma between Yuma and Gila Bend along Interstate 8 on the banks of the Gila River near the California state line. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,180, an increase of 114 since 1990. Welton is situated just north of the United States-Mexico border.
