Yarnell is located in Yavapai County northwest of Phoenix between Prescott and Wickenburg along Highway 89 near the Yavapai National Forest. Yarnell is in Northern Arizona between the Weaver Mountains and below Antelope Peak.
Yarnell is an unincorporated town that has its roots in mining and ranching. The town sits at an elevation of 4,700 feet. The climate is mild all year round. Yarnell is a popular retirement community because of its low cost of living and mild climate. Yarnell is also home to a growing art, crafts and antique business.
An attraction worth noting is the Shrine of Saint Joseph of the Mountains. It is located in the Weaver Mountains, about a half-mile west of Yarnell. This hillside shrine has a chapel, the Way of the Cross, replicas of the Garden of Gethsemane and the Last Supper. Visitors can take a trail through the statues or mediate in the beautiful park like setting.
Yarnell is the home of the Yarnell Daze in May. This is a community festival.
