The Groeninge Museum presents Flemish, Dutch, and Belgian paintings from six centuries. The Groeninge is especially well known for its high-quality collection of work by the Flemish Primiitives. Some of the artists represented at Groeninge include Jan Van Eyck, Pieter Pourbus, Hugo van der Goes, Jan Provoost, Fernand Khnopff, and Marcel Broodthaers.
The Groeninge is complemented by a sister museum next door containing decorative art, the Gruuthuse Museum.
