Herbeumont Castle Ruins

Search Visit

If you hike up the hillside from the village of Herbeumont, you'll find the ruins of a 12th century castle, once the property of the Counts of Herbeumont. It was destroyed in the 17th century by French troops, and what's left are overgrown tumbledown stone walls. The castle site has an excellent view, with the Knight's Tomb, a tight bend in the Semois River that appears as a sarcophagus with its sloping slides, featuring prominently.
