Mol is home to the Belgian Nuclear Research Center, founded in 1952. In the area are numerous lakes. The local Abbey of Postel contains an excellent collection of antique books, and brews a well-regarded abbey ale. St. Peter and St. Paul's Cathedral in Mol features a thorn reportedly from the crown of Jesus.
Mol is located at the east end of the Antwerpen province, and has a population of 32,000.
