The Neptune caves are formed where the Eau Noire river flows underground for a few kilometers. The parts of the caves that are open to visitors feature amazing underground waterfalls, a boat trip, and a sound and light show. The river eventually disappears into a siphon, then flows underground through twists and turns which remain unexplored, emerging 48 hours later at Nivelles. There are three levels to the caves, with the oldest at the top. The water flows in the lowest course constantly, flows in the middle course during floods, and no longer flows in the upper course at all.
