Willebroek, a commune of 23,000, is located halfway between Antwerp and Brussels. The canal which connects the two cities is named the Willebroek Canal.
Fort Breendonk, the site of a WWII concentration camp, is located in Willebroek, and has been turned into a museum.
Blaasveld, Heindonk, Tisselt, and Ruisbroek are boroughs within the municipal district of Willebroek. (There is another Ruisbroek in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, Vlaams-Brabant province.)
