Alta Sierra Biblical Gardens

One the slopes of the Sierra Nevada foothills nestled among aging oaks and pine trees the forest unveils an inspiring beauty-California's most unusual scenic attraction. Alta Sierra is located on an old wagon trail near Grass Valley used during the The California Gold Rush has been regarded and now leads to the Bible Gardens.

Once, horse drawn freight wagons and stage coach drivers watered their teams in the nearby stream. Now, visitors can stand solemnly on its banks and view scenes of the life of Christ. Developed in the 1970's. Most of the stone statuary scenes and wooden hand carvings were created and done by John Summer. Tons of sand and cement were packed in by a donkey to create this beautiful and inspiring garden. The Gardens are open from 9:00 a.m. until sunset, year round, weather permitting.
