Blue Diamond Growers is the world's largest tree nut processing and marketing company. Blue Diamond Almonds was founded in 1910. The Blue Diamond headquarters is in Sacramento, California. The crop is marketed to all 50 states and more than 90 foreign countries, making almonds California's largest food export, and the sixth largest U.S. food export. The California crop is valued annually at about $1 billion dollars.

While visiting the headquarters one can watch a videotape presentation on the growing and harvesting of almonds, and sample the company's products in the tasting room. Admission is free. Please call for admission times, as they are subject to change.

All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
