The City of Corning, California was incorporated in 1907. Corning is perhaps best known for its award-winning olive products. Agriculture plays an important role in the Corning community. Situated directly on Interstate 5, two hours north of the State Capitol Sacramento, Corning is an ideal jumping-off point for Upstate California travelers. Corning is located in Tehama County south of Redding between Red Bluff and Chico along Highway 99 near Black Butte Lake. For the more adventurous, follow HWY-99 North from Interstate-80 near Sacramento to Red Bluff where HWY-99 merges with Interstate-5. This stretch of road takes one back in time and is similar to the famous old Route 66. Sights include farms and orchards, fruit and vegetable stands, country homes and rural communities like Marysville, Yuba City, Chico, the eastern face of Corning and Los Molinos. This is a perfect “Corvette Road". While this is the slower alternative route north, it is certainly more fun than the monotonous Interstsate-5.
