Established in 1961, this is California's comprehensive public university system offering bachelors, masters and joint doctoral degrees. It is governed by a 24 member board of trustees, and its cheif administrator is the chancellor.
CSU's main priorities are to emphasize quality in instruction, to provide an environment in which scholarship, research, creative, artistic and professional liberal arts and sciences.
Twenty-two campuses are under the system.
