Characterized by rugged forested ridges, rushing rivers and high mountain lakes and streams, Klamath National Forest extends over an area of some 1.7 million acres. There is no vehicle access to the two wilderness areas that include much of the scenic areas in the forest, Marble Mountain Wilderness and Trinity Alps WIlderness. There are many opportunities for fishing, hunting, and whitewater rafting.

The Klamath National Forest Interpretive Museum is located at 1312 Fairlane Road in Yreka. An exhibit honors Hallie Daggett, the first woman forest-fire lookout in the country. Open weekdays except holidays. Free admission.
