Mission la Purisima Concepcion de Maria Santisima is one of the most completely restored missions of the 21 Spanish Missions in the state. The park visitor center features information, displays, and artifacts. A self guided tour gives visitors the opportunity to step back in time for a glimpse of life in California in the early 1800s. The park contains the church, shops, quarters, springhouse, cemetery and mission gardens. The mission was founded in 1787. The original buildings were destroyed in an earthquake in 1812. The WPA and CCC restored most of the adobe buildings in the 1930s. Special living history events are scheduled throughout the year.
Call the park for further information. The park is located 3 miles NE of Lompoc along Hwy 246.
