Los Gatos Public Library

Los Gatos Public Library, serving an area of 29,000 residents, has a collection of 110,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 5,600 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 3,800 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public.

Staffing consists of 17 employees, of whom 7 are fully accredited librarians, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $230,000. Patrons make 189,000 visits annually, and check out materials 270,000 times. Forty-two percent of all check-outs are children's materials.

California Exposition & State Fair Sacramento CA June12-28 The Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair. All year Satellite Wagering, Waterworld USA, Paradise Island Fun Center and an RV Park are just a few of the features of the Cal Expo.The first State Fair was held in 1854 in San Francisco at the old Music Hall. The fair offered premiums (prizes) for its competitions and included such agricultural exhibits such as 2-inch-long peanuts, 72-pound beets and a 10-pound carrot that was longer than 3 feet. Horseracing was part of that first fair and has continued to be a part of the fair ever since.
