Qualcomm Stadium

The park has been officially known as Qualcomm Stadium since 1997, when a local electronics conglomerate helped pay for an expansion project to add seating for football games, enclosing the park with stands that now seat 67,544. Qualcomm Stadium is owned and operated by the City of San Diego. It is the home of the San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, San Diego State University Aztecs, and Holiday Bowl.

The original name of the Stadium was San Diego Stadium. In September of 1980 the City Council voted to rename the Stadium San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium. Once again in 1997, the name changed. A local San Diego Telecommunication Company agreed to pay the City $18 million to complete the expansion project. In return the name of the Stadium change to Qualcomm Stadium. Qualcomm has the naming rights until the year 2017.
