Richmond

Richmond is part of San Francisco Bay Area north of Oakland.Breaking off of I-80, I-580 passes through Richmond on it's way to the San Rafael Bridge and Highway 101.

Over 5,000 years ago the first inhabitants of Richmond were the Ohlone Indians. Point Richmond was one of the first communities built in the city. Residents and tourists will enjoy the Victorian style of some of the homes in the area while dining and shopping.

Richmond was home to Winehaven, the largest winery for 12 years in the early 1900's until the Prohibition forced the winery to close in 1919. The U.S. Navy purchased the 412 acres of Point Molate, where the winery use to be 22 years later in 1941. Point Molate served as a fuel depot in 1950 during World War II until decommissioned in 1995. Richmond is home to several other historical sites, all worth visiting.

There is also a Richmond, Vermont.
