Move on to the site of the Oak of the Golden Dream, where gold was first discovered in California. Santa Clarita is nine miles of Interstate 5 NW of Los Angeles on the road to Palmdale and Lancaster. Santa Clarita is part of the Los Angeles-Long Beach, California metro area.
