Incorporated in 1869 the general law City of San Juan Bautista is nestled in the heart of the noted San Juan Valley between the Gabilan Mountains and Flint Hills. Rich with culture and history, San Juan Bautista offers residents and visitors a refreshing small town atmosphere filled with the charm and character of the past. This small community is centered around one of the many Historical California Missions.

East of Monterey Bay, San Juan Bautista is located between Salinas and Gilroy along US Highway 101 near the San Luis Reservoir State Recreation Area. The town can be reached via Highway 156 or G1 and is northeast of Salinas.
