San Luis Obispo

The City of San Luis Obispo serves as the commercial, governmental and cultural hub of Californias Central Coast. One of California's oldest communities, it began with the founding of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa in 1772 by Father Junpero Serra as the fifth mission in the California chain of 21 Spanish Missions.

In addition to enjoying the natural beauty of San Luis Obispo, there are lots of things to see and do in San Luis Obispoa delightful downtown with great dining, shops and nightlife; arts center; Mission Plaza; historical walking tours; Children's Museum; world-class performing arts center; and wine country tours.

San Luis Obispo is located in San Luis Obispo County, of which it is the county seat, north of Santa Barbara between Atascadero and Arroyo Grande along US Highway 101 near Santa Margarita and Lopez lakes. The city is situated on central California's Pacific coast.

San Luis Obispo is part of the San Luis Obispo-Atascadero-Paso Robles metro area.
