Founded in 1902, The American Alpine Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting climbing knowledge, conserving mountain environments, and serving the American climbing community. Currently the AAC has more than 7,000 members across the globe and anyone who has climbed for two years or more is welcome to join the AAC. It is the leading national organization in the United States devoted to mountaineering, climbing, and the multitude of issues facing climbers. With an emphasis on adventure, scientific research, and education, the club is dedicated to the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about the mountains and mountaineering through meetings, publications, and libraries.
